Leadership is an essential part of GCC’s culture, and this year’s theme in the Primary school, Hopeful Hearts, Helpful Hands, reflects our belief that every student has the potential to lead and serve. As parents, you play an important role in fostering these qualities at home, encouraging your children to step up, take responsibility and help those around them.
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Leadership is not about never making mistakes, it is about learning from challenges and growing stronger through them. We want our students to develop resilience, hope and a heart for service. Leadership is not always easy, but with faith and perseverance, our students can inspire and uplift those around them.
In the Primary school, all students shape our school culture, but there are also structured opportunities for leadership. Through the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Year 6 Leadership Program, students have the chance to lead in meaningful ways. Whether it is helping in the library, organising games, assisting younger students or running clubs, each leader plays a role in making our school a better place. These positions also help our students grow in confidence, work together in teams and develop a sense of responsibility.
As the school year begins, we are excited to celebrate our student leaders at a special induction ceremony next Monday. Please join us in congratulating our elected Primary Captains for 2025:
School Captains: Abigail Johnston and James Townsend
Faith Captains: Harper Moore and Israel Packer
Performing Arts Captains: Georgina Eaton and Ivy Lange
House Captains:
Ararat: Ethan Doyle and Harper Price
Sinai: Lincoln Graham and Ella-Paige Dunn
Zion: Dylan Townsend and Estelle Boss
We are so proud of these students and the example they will set for their peers. Thank you for supporting our leadership programs and encouraging your children and we look forward to seeing them serve our school community with Hopeful Hearts and Helpful Hands!
Gail Mitchell, Head of Primary
