Come along to Open Day and discover what makes our College the Best School on the Sunshine Coast
We would love to welcome you to our school at this year's Open Day on Saturday 15 May 2021, 10am - 2pm. GCC Open Days are a fun-filled day out for the whole family, with so many free activities for everyone to enjoy.
The Glasshouse Christian College Open Day is always one of its kind. This fun-filled day allows you to see first-hand why so many families choose our school for their children and regularly tell us that they believe our College is the best school on the Sunshine Coast. We would love you to bring your family, friends, neighbours and grandparents.
Some of the things you can enjoy this year are: Campus tours including the new Performing Arts Precinct; Dance, Drama and Music performances; Science shows and interactive displays; food trucks; coffee vans and more. The program of events is below.
We encourage you to register your interest in attending, by clicking on the RSVP button.
Free Animal Nursery
Take your young (or young at heart) children to the free baby animal nursery outside Prep Maroon (P3 on the map) to enjoy cuddles with these furry little critters. We have an animal nursery at Open Day to remind families and students of the opportunities to learn about animal husbandry and agricultural science in our senior years.
Free Train Rides
The free train will be taking visitors on a different track this year, helping them quickly travel from the car parks right into the heart of the GCC campus. The train will make stops at convenient locations and the turning circle will be in the undercover area.
Free Jumping Castle
Most of the Open Day stands, activities and events have a specific purpose to showcase what happens at GCC. The only purpose of the free jumping castle is for little ones to have lots of fun but we think that is a good enough reason.
If you have children going into Prep make sure you tour our three Prep classrooms. Meet the teachers and see the rooms that have been purpose-built for this special age group. You can even visit the animal nursery outside Prep Maroon at the same time.
Explore the fascinating world of robotics in classroom G2. You will be amazed at the technology our secondary students are able to use, preparing them for current and future jobs in multiple growth industries.
Open Day is the only opportunity you will have to visit our Agricultural Science farm in Peachester. Bookings are essential and a bus leaves at 10:30am and 12:30pm. To avoid disappointment, you are encouraged to pre-book online via this link.
Have you seen our gym and sports centre? They have only been complete for one Open Day and the sports centre has a new look since then. Complete a circuit in the gym or play some volleyball with your children.
Student Voice will be running the famous 'Eagle Competition' and are also happy to take an Instagram frame photo of you and your family. These student leaders are here to help so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them. You will find the Student Voice stand near the food trucks and eating area on the grass outside the library.
After you've indulged in the delights of our food trucks and lunch area on the lawn outside the library, you'll need to work off some extra energy. Head up the stairs to the Northern Oval where you will find Brisbane Roar's giant inflatable soccer field and have some fun with the kids. Which one in your family will likely be the next Roberto Carlos?
Delicious Food & Drinks
The delicious doughnuts at the Donut Kitchen food truck will tempt anyone to break a diet. They are well worth every tasty calorie! Donut Kitchen is so popular at our Open Days that they have become a firm favourite.
For the first time, Paco's Tacos will be coming to Open Day. Embrace the authentic foundations of Mexican street culture through food that is healthy, fast and delicious.
There is nothing like the smell of sausages sizzling on a barbeque to lure you to a hearty lunch. This Australian favourite is being run by the wonderful members of our P and F.
Join the 'drool club' by trying Neshama's loaded cheesy fries, scrumptious southern fried chicken or halloumi fries. GCC's Open Day is best tackled on an empty stomach for full enjoyment!
Feeling a bit fancy? Then our P and F's high tea will be your vendor of choice on Open Day. For those who didn't manage something special for mum on Mother's Day, make it up to her at this deliciously tasty stall.
Our very own GCC Tuckshop will be open on the day and ready to serve you homemade sushi, sandwiches, drinks and more.
Year 10 DeLorean Project students will be manning the coffee van outside the Uniform Shop. Stop by to see them in action and learn more about their ground-breaking projects to improve our world.
The forecast is fine and sunny for Open Day so it sounds like perfect weather to enjoy an ice cream from Mr Whippy. Mr Whippy has been a firm favourite at our Open Days for many years. You will find the ice cream truck outside our Uniform Shop.
In the Primary section of the Library you will see: Literature Circles Showcase, Primary Honours Display, Giant Chess, Relax and Read in the Green Amphitheatre. Makerspace Fun with Ozobots, Osmo, iexplore augmented reality Books, Scratch Junior Coding, Bee Bots, Augmented Reality Colouring, and Design a Bookmark.
