Year 10-12 - Glasshouse Christian College

Senior School
Year 10 - Year 12

In developing the Senior Program, Glasshouse Christian College considered a number of pathway options to make available to students. GCC wants to ensure that students are provided with the support and pathways necessary for them to successfully move from schooling into the workplace or further education.

Pastoral Care

Each year level is divided into three pastoral care classes and the teachers of these classes work closely with the students in their pastoral care group to help provide the support and care required for students to reach their potential.

The DeLorean Project

The DeLorean Project’s original and continuing mandate is to provide Year 10 students with the opportunity to engage in authentic, student-directed learning and its goal has always been to develop within students the capacity to work collaboratively, think innovatively and contribute to the world genuinely.

At every juncture, the DeLorean Project aims to provide students with the skills they will need to navigate their voyage through the 21st century.

The academic pathway allows students to The academic pathway allows students to select from a range of authority-registered subjects as well as providing access to subjects and courses through various universities.

Our vocational pathway offers VET certificate courses in partnership with TAFE Queensland Brisbane and TAFE Queensland East Coast. The College supports students undertaking School-based Traineeships and Apprenticeships. Our program is flexible enough to allow students the opportunity to keep their options open by doing both Academic and VET courses. We also have access to Distance Education thus broadening subject options even further.

Technology

Each student is issued with a laptop computer (Apple MacBook) and you can learn more about this on our Technology page. Each classroom has a filtered wireless network with access to various academic databases and other online learning tools.

The College incorporates a student portal to the College Student Management System giving instant access to timetables and report cards. Details also include reports on the number of times students have been absent and late to school and the details of merits and demerits issued.

GCC also uses its own specially designed Learning Management System (LMS), Connect.  Each class has a virtual presence on the LMS and students can log into their virtual classroom from anywhere in the world.  They then have access to all the resources and planners provided by that course.  Parents also have access to these resources and can help support their child at home.
