High Potential Development Program - Glasshouse Christian College

High Potential Development

Glasshouse Christian College is committed to providing opportunities for students of all abilities to learn well through excellent teaching and providing appropriate levels of challenge. This is particularly true for students of very high ability or “gifted” students.

At GCC we support high-ability students in the following ways;

  1. Differentiated programs of teaching and learning within the curriculum
  2. Inclusion in the Primary School Honours Program or Middle School Horizons Program. This is a weekly program where students are withdrawn for a portion of the day from a few of their regular classes to participate in specially curated problem-solving challenges and projects, sometimes individually and sometimes in groups of like-minded peers.
  3. Participation in co-curricular activities especially designed to stretch, challenge and develop students. Such experiences may include the da Vinci Decathlon, Ethics Olympiad, Mathematics Olympiads and Queensland Science Contest, to name a few.

The programs are facilitated by Mrs Lisa Allum who is a highly qualified and respected teacher in the field of gifted and talented education. If you would like to know more about the programs and development opportunities for “gifted” students at the College please contact her via the College number or email on lisa.allum@glasshouse.qld.edu.au
