Our Pastors
The generously sized Pastoral Team (school chaplains) at Glasshouse Christian College are GREAT role models for the students and always available for a chat. They are:
- An integral part of everyday life at GCC, providing spiritual oversight, guidance and support to students and their families.
- Committed Christians who are in good standing and active in their local church.
- Passionate about seeing students and families discover God, grow in their faith, so they can live life abundantly as God intends them to.
- Respectful of all our students and families, irrespective of their faith traditions.
- Safe people for students to share their life and faith journey with.
- People of genuine compassion who offer encouragement, a listening ear, care and guidance on social, emotional and spiritual issues.
- Proactive in preventing issues and reactive in responding to them.
- Trained in Theology and Ministry and experienced in youth and children’s ministry.
Sydney Moore
Pastor Syd is the College's Lead Pastor and specialises in Middle and Senior School students.
In 2019, his family moved from the United States to Australia. His wife’s name is Terri (who is also on staff at GCC) and they have a daughter, Harper and a son, Miles.
He has more than 15 years of experience with college, youth and children in the church world.
Syd loves collecting vinyl records, cheering on the Phoenix Suns and surfing the beautiful waves here on the Sunshine Coast.
Jacqueline Newell
Jacqueline Newell is a Primary School Pastor at GCC and she used to be a student and a Year 12 College Captain at the College. She was involved in many of the College's mission trips and began Bible College to pursue work in ministry after being a hairdresser for several years.
These experiences developed Jacqueline's heart for people, especially children and youth and she comes to GCC after being a Children's and Youth Pastor at a Baptist Church up north.
Jacqueline loves doing anything outdoors, travel, country music, and chocolate!
Helen Meinel
Helen is a Secondary School Pastor in both the Middle and Senior Schools at GCC.
She has more than 15 years of experience as a Pastor working with children, youth and families and is passionate about serving God wherever He places her and she has a heart to see people thrive in their God-given potential.
Helen loves camping, reading and exploring new places to adventure with her husband and her four teenage/young adult daughters.
Caleb Reid
Caleb Reid joins our community with experience as a Pastor at Impact Church in Canberra, time with Red Frogs Australia and a background supporting students across both primary and secondary settings.
Inspired by how faith has shaped his own journey since childhood, Caleb is passionate about seeing the next generation discover "the Jesus way" early in life.
An enthusiast for all things outdoors, Caleb is yet to find a sport he doesn’t enjoy — particularly if it involves running or riding challengingly long distances, a ball, or his favourite teams, Liverpool FC and the Manly Sea Eagles.
Caleb is enjoying life here on the Coast with his wife, their two children, and their two dogs.
College Pastors exist to:
- Provide opportunities for students to explore their spiritual side through chapels, groups, one on one conversations.
- Actively promote student well-being through pastoral care, life skills groups, mentoring and visitation.
- Provide a safe place for students to navigate life challenges through pastoral care, prayer and working with families.
- Build positive relationships through camps, excursions, sports days and events.
- Make GCC one of the most welcoming private schools on the Sunshine Coast.
Missions
Our school has a heart for missions. So each year, for many years, a group of Senior School students travel to Fiji for two weeks to do short-term missions.
In Fiji, the group stay at the Fiji Bible College in Lautoka and partner with them in gospel-focused outreach programs like kids clubs, youth groups, school concerts and religious education lessons.
Mission trips are a wonderful way to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to the people but also an incredible time of spiritual growth for the students themselves as they step out of their comfort zone and trust God to use them for His service.
