Last week Year 5 went on an amazing adventure to our camp at Boulder Creek, just near Gympie! After quite a long bus trip, we all found ourselves at the camp in the middle of the bush! We could hear the birds singing and we got to see some native wildlife including a little echidna who was at the top of the mountain and who was very cooperative and stayed long enough for us to take his photo! It was a beautiful setting to what turned out to be a fabulous camp!
Camp comes with challenges and some of us were pushed a little out of our comfort zone, but our camp was all about having a go and going as far as you can. Some people were brave enough to leap from the “Leap of Faith” others faced their fear of heights by completing the “Ringtail Ropes” course. We learned archery, played some awesome games of “Rocket Ball” and we even had a go at building rafts and then floating them on the dam (some were not so “floaty”)!
Another highlight was our night activities with our amazing pastors! On the first night, the boys headed out into the dark with Pastor Josh, Mr Bennett, Mr Whysall and Mr Ford. On the second night, it was the girls turn to go out with Pastor Joc, Mrs Cuckson, Mrs Jen, Mrs Andrews, Mrs Wolsley and even Mrs Mitchell! We were all able to play fun games with our torches in the dark and then have a chat around the campfire while toasting marshmallows. It was a great way to end a fun day at camp.
Another highlight was the food, it was so delicious! We all enjoyed roast beef, spaghetti, nachos, pancakes and even chocolate cake (which had a candle in it for Ethan, who celebrated his birthday with us all while we were on camp).
Overall, we had a fabulous time and came home tired but happy!
