On Wednesday, 25 March, Year 1 had a visit from the amazing Ang at Eco-Bugs.
Our students enjoyed an exciting and hands-on learning experience as they explored the fascinating world of insects and their vital role in the garden ecosystem.
Throughout the session, children discovered why insects are so important for healthy gardens. They learned about life cycles and were amazed to see how tiny creatures grow and change over time. From wriggly worms to delicate butterflies, each insect plays a special part in helping plants thrive.
Students were introduced to a variety of insects, including worms, spiny leaf stick insects, butterflies, and bees. They were captivated by fun facts about each creature and gained a deeper understanding of how these small animals contribute to pollination, soil health, and the natural recycling process. The children were encouraged to think about practical ways they can care for God’s creation by reducing waste and supporting sustainable practices at home and at school.
Adding to the excitement, students met a special puppet friend, “Wriggly Worm,” who helped reinforce important environmental messages in a fun and memorable way.
For many, the most thrilling moment was the opportunity to safely hold and observe worms and a stick insect up close — a wonderful way to build curiosity, confidence, and respect for the natural world.
It was a joyful and engaging learning experience that not only supported our science curriculum but also encouraged responsible stewardship of the environment
