Going to the GRIP Leadership Day was a really fun and inspiring experience for us as Year 6 captains. As soon as we arrived, there was lots of energy in the room and we could tell it was going to be a great day. We learned that leadership isn’t about doing what’s easiest, it’s about doing what’s necessary and helping others.
In the first session, we talked about how leaders can serve others, be role models of our school values, look for ways to improve our school, and take ownership of opportunities. It made us think about how we can step up and make a positive difference.
One of the sessions that stood out was about integrity. We learned that being a leader means telling the truth, aiming high, saying sorry when we make mistakes, and making sure our actions match our words. It showed us that leadership isn’t just about a badge, it’s about how we act every day.
We also shared ideas with students from other schools and started planning some of our own. Overall, the day helped us feel more confident and excited to be the best leaders we can be this year.
