This term, our students have been deeply engaged in exploring how we can care for God’s creation through purposeful and thoughtful learning across the year levels.
Our Year 3 students examined what life is like near a quarry, considering both the benefits and the environmental challenges such developments bring. Through rich discussions and Visible Thinking routines like See, Think, Wonder, they learned to look at issues from multiple perspectives and listen respectfully to others.
Year 4 students turned their attention to the unique challenges facing Australian animals. From habitat loss to climate pressures, they explored how human actions impact the creatures God has entrusted to our care. Their growing awareness sparked thoughtful conversations about responsibility and stewardship.
In Year 5, students built on this understanding by investigating how habitat destruction affects ecosystems across Australia. Using Zoom In, they closely analysed case studies, identifying key issues and considering realistic solutions. Their work highlighted the importance of critical thinking and collaboration when responding to complex problems.
Our Year 6 students extended their learning beyond Australia, designing solutions to environmental challenges faced by neighbouring countries. With creativity and compassion, they applied their knowledge to serve others—reflecting God’s call to love our neighbours and care for the wider world.
Lunchtime groups have started using the cardboard cutters, hot glue guns and also designing and printing on the 3D printers. The Maker’s Place is a great place to make things!
