On Friday, 8 August, Year 4 students blasted into learning with an out-of-this-world rocket incursion led by It’s Rockets instructor Cran Middlebrook. Using nothing more than the power of air and gravity, our budding scientists explored how forces, motion, and gravity combine to send rockets soaring high into the sky.
Each launch was a real experiment—measuring thrust (the push force that propels the rocket) and testing flight distances. Along the way, students delved into aerodynamics, trajectories, propulsion, and the surprising role friction plays in flight.
The outcome? A sky full of flying bottles, plenty of “oohs” and “aahs,” and an oval buzzing with excitement. From building to blasting, this was a learning experience full of fun, discovery, and spectacular launches. Our Year 4 rocket scientists had just one word for it—amazing! But really, the pictures speak for themselves.
