Holiday Fun Outdoors!

As the holidays approach, it’s the perfect time for children (and adults!) to step away from screens, breathe in some fresh air, and enjoy the great outdoors. Whether you’re staying close to home or heading off on an adventure, there are countless ways to make the most of the holiday break outside.

Here are some simple, low-cost ideas to inspire outdoor fun these holidays:

 Explore Local Parks and Trails

Take a walk, ride a bike, or go on a nature scavenger hunt at your local park or bushwalking trail. Keep an eye out for native birds, interesting plants, or unusual rocks. Don’t forget to pack a picnic!

Beach Days and Water Play

If you’re near the coast, a day at the beach is always a winner. Build sandcastles, collect shells, try beach cricket, or simply splash in the waves (if you dare in winter!). No beach nearby? Backyard sprinklers or water balloon games can bring just as much joy!

Backyard Camping

Set up a tent in the backyard (or even the living room if the weather turns!) and enjoy a night under the stars. Roast marshmallows, tell stories by torchlight, and enjoy the magic of “getting away” without going far.

Visit a Playground or Adventure Park

School holidays are a great time to visit playgrounds you’ve never been to before. Try climbing walls, zip lines, or obstacle courses for a fun physical challenge.

Get Gardening

Gardening is a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn patience and responsibility. Plant herbs, veggies, or flowers – and enjoy watching them grow over the weeks ahead.

 Outdoor Art and Creativity

Take your paints, chalk, or sketchbook outside! Try nature-inspired art projects, like leaf rubbings, rock painting, or making a mandala from sticks and petals.

Whatever you choose to do, the most important thing is to enjoy the time together, get moving, and appreciate the beauty around us. Have a safe, fun-filled and refreshing holiday break!
