As we navigate the ever-changing digital landscape, Glasshouse Christian College is taking proactive steps to ensure our Year 8 students are equipped with the tools they need for online safety and overall well-being. We began the year with Peter Janetzki who spoke on personal development, digital well-being and conflict management. We also use the Wellio program, a cutting-edge platform designed to address these crucial areas.
Enhancing Digital Literacy
In today’s interconnected world, digital literacy is more important than ever. Our program offers engaging lessons on social media use and phone addiction, helping our students develop a healthy relationship with technology. Through interactive activities and discussions, Year 8s will learn to critically evaluate online content and make informed decisions about their digital footprint.
Promoting Online Safety
With the increasing influence of the internet on our daily lives, online safety is paramount. Wellio’s comprehensive curriculum includes lessons on navigating the digital world safely, understanding privacy settings, and recognising potential online risks. By equipping our students with these skills, we aim to create a safer online environment for our entire school community.
Fostering Well-Being in the Digital Age
The Wellio program goes beyond just digital skills, addressing overall student wellbeing. Lessons cover a wide range of topics including:
- Building healthy relationships
- Managing anxiety and stress
- Developing resilience and a positive mindset
- Maintaining physical health through proper sleep, diet, and exercise
Data-Driven Approach
One of the key benefits of our platforms is its ability to provide real-time data on student progress and engagement. This allows our teachers to identify areas where additional support may be needed and tailor the program to best suit our students’ needs.
As we continue to prioritise the well-being and digital literacy of our Year 8 students, we’re confident that our program will provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in our increasingly digital world.
