Sports wrap

It has been a busy start to the term for sport at GCC. With teams entered in Volleyball, Soccer, Touch Football and Netball, many of our students and coaches have been extremely busy preparing for competition each week.

Our GCC Swimming Carnival was a fantastic event and preceded the District competition in Week 4 and upcoming regional and state competitions. Students have also had a variety of opportunities to try out at district level across sports at trial day 1-4. The remainder of this term should prove exciting with a number of our teams topping their prospective competition tables and demonstrating the grit and determination on the sporting field that now characterises teams from Glasshouse Christian College.

SCISSA Senior Soccer

GCC Senior Boys went into this game undermanned with only eight players for the first part. Ryan Kossen led the way with two goals. Well done to GCC for winning their first game of the term. I’d like to encourage players to commit to turning up on time so our success continues.

GCC Defeated Suncoast 2-1. Best Player Ryan Kossen (2 goals).

Kawana Cup Touch Football

For the first time this year, we have a junior touch team in the Kawana Cup Touch competition. This team consists of boys from Years 6, 7 and 8. The competition runs over 15 weeks and has teams from across the Sunshine Coast competing every Wednesday afternoon. This week the boys came up against Chancellor State College in their first game. The experienced Chancellor team proved too strong in this game. The GCC team will continue to develop and should prove to be a force to reckon with under the tutelage of Mr Jared Bullock.
