On Friday 9 May, three teams of students from Glasshouse Christian College represented our school at the 2025 SCIPHA Chess Tournament, held at Suncoast Christian College. With over 30 teams competing, the atmosphere was buzzing with strategy and friendly rivalry.
Each team consisted of four players, and every student played six intense rounds of chess throughout the day. Scores were calculated individually and then tallied to determine each team’s final standing.
We are incredibly proud to share that our Year 6 team placed 4th overall, a remarkable achievement given the strong competition on the day. All students displayed excellent sportsmanship, focus, and resilience, making us proud ambassadors of GCC.
Congratulations to all team members for their enthusiasm and dedication, and a special thank you to the families for your support in preparing and encouraging these young chess enthusiasts. Events like these highlight the value of strategic thinking, perseverance, and teamwork, skills we are proud to nurture in our Primary Chess Club.
We look forward to more exciting chess opportunities ahead!
