Nurturing Tomorrow’s Leaders: Year 6 Leadership Incursion

On March 11, 2025, Glasshouse Christian College hosted a transformative Year 6 Leadership Incursion, designed to nurture and empower the future leaders among our students. Central to the day’s success were our 12 dedicated primary student leaders, who demonstrated outstanding initiative and leadership throughout the sessions.

The day commenced with an inspiring leadership presentation by Character Builders, where the primary leaders explored key leadership skills, emphasizing the values of stepping up, stepping back, and encouraging others. This session laid the foundation for their leadership journey, equipping them with strategies to foster confidence, resilience, and inclusivity.

The ‘Domino Theory’ activity further honed their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities. It was a powerful exercise in resilience and cooperation, emphasizing the interconnectedness of each leader’s role within the wider team. This was followed by ‘Conversation Circles,’ where the leaders practiced interpersonal skills, focusing on respectful and meaningful communication.

The leadership masterclass was a pivotal moment, challenging our primary leaders to reflect on their leadership styles and responsibilities. They learned about setting standards, leading by example, and fostering inclusivity within their teams.

The middle session brought all Year 6 students together for an ‘Amazing Race,’ encouraging collaboration and strategic thinking. The final session showcased the leadership growth of our primary leaders, as they guided their peers through conversation circles and led the uplifting ‘Big Ups’ activity. This moment of public recognition allowed students to affirm each other’s strengths and reflect on their shared leadership journey.

The day was a testament to the growth and potential of our student leaders. It was inspiring to witness their courage, confidence, and commitment to leading with empathy and integrity. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing these young leaders continue to shine in the future.
