Last weekend the Drama Club students did the College and themselves proud at the Sunshine Coast Schools’ Drama Festival.

It is the second year GCC entered this event, which the four groups took home three silver and one bronze trophy. Unfortunately, this means we are not attending this year’s highlights event, but it is a great goal for us to work towards.

Some students were given a special mention for their performance. In the Junior section, Cara Bales and Lexi Brannigan for their use of space and characterisation whilst performing in a very, very large box.

In the Intermediate section, Kim Bland, Dakota Thomson and Alex Cameron were commended for creating a place, even with the use of minimal props and costumes. Casey Woods in the Senior section was commended for his performance as the Old Man engaging the audience to consider their response to money when it is up for grabs.

Well done to all of the students who participated; however, the show is not over as we begin to rehearse for our next performance. Come and see the group in action at the Arts Showcase evening, SHINE, on Friday 1 September.
