The Year 10 Agricultural Science class had an action-packed trip last week to Warwick for the Annual DAF Plant Science Competition Awards. Congratulations to Lachlan McWilliam who won the Conference Award ($1,000), TASTE Scholarship ($500) and Highly Commended award for his plant science research project.
The students enjoyed a tour of the Hermitage Research Facility, as well as hands on activities which included extracting DNA strands from peas in the lab, learning how the Residue Detection dogs are trained, and meeting scientists and the incredible Costa Geogiadis from ABC’s Gardening Australia.
An overnight stay at Bestbrook Mountain Resort, complete with campfire and learning about Bestbrooks fodder machine, capped off a fantastic trip with an awesome group of Aggies!
