As always, the first weeks of Year 7 have been incredibly busy. It’s been a flurry of new routines, timetables, rooms and getting used to many new teachers and expectations. It’s sure to have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride of excitement and nerves, both for students and parents. On the very first day, as per our tradition, the Year 7s were welcomed to Middle School by the Year 12s decorating their lockers with lollipops and ribbons.
Launchpad day for Year 7 in Week 2 was to help the students and Year 7 PC teachers get to know each other better. The day was spent doing teambuilding activities, enjoying a pizza lunch and then heading over to the Beerwah pool for an afternoon of swimming and cooling off.
The pool theme continued into the Secondary Swimming Carnival on Wednesday last week and I was very proud of the keen enthusiasm and positive attitude of the Year 7s in getting into the spirit of the day and giving things a go, whether that be in races, cheering their house teammates on, or in dancing!
We are off to a great start with Year 7 this year and I’m excited that the Year 7s are rising to the challenge, taking on our catchphrase ‘If it’s to be, it’s up to me!’
