Year 7 Launchpad

As always, the first week of Year 7 has been an incredibly busy one. It’s been a mad rush of new routines, timetables, rooms and getting used to many new teachers and expectations. It’s sure to have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride of excitement and nerves, both for students and parents. On the very first day, the Year 7s found their lockers decorated by Year 12s with lollipops and ribbons to help welcome them to Middle School. Getting used to using lockers, juggling books, laptops and bags is always a challenge to begin with but the students are all settling in very quickly.

The purpose of the Year 7 ‘Launchpad’ day last Wednesday was to get to know each other better. The day was spent at Tunnel Ridge Ranch near Landsborough doing team-building activities, swimming and playing volleyball.

Pastor Rob and Ms Calais challenged the students to explore different ways of seeing things, to be persistent and persevere as they try new things this year. The catch phrase ‘If it’s to be, it’s up to me!’ is certainly going to be important for the students to remember as they begin their time in Middle School.
