Glasshouse Christian College’s Year 7 students have been welcomed into Secondary College with a whole new look super classroom space in L8.
Variable and comfortable workspaces have been developed for students to use that are particularly suited to collaborative teamwork.
The space’s focus is on student collaboration, helping to develop communication, critical thinking, conflict resolution and leadership skills in a unique environment.
Spaces include quiet work areas, comfortable lounges, brainstorming tables, small enclaves, a seminar amphitheatre, and an array of lighting to create atmosphere.
The Term 1 integrated FUSE theme, Clash of Empires, sees students pitted against each other to prove that their civilisation, the Western empire of Ancient Rome, or the Eastern Empire of Ancient China, was the greatest civilisation of the ancient world. Students become experts in their empire, developing a persuasive essay and then square off against opponents in debates.
Clash of Empires will conclude with a victory ceremony for the winning empire and tasting of “ancient” food and entertainment from both civilisations at the end of the term.
