Our Year 5 cohort recently returned from an unforgettable three-day adventure at Maranatha Boulder Creek camp. Set against the lush backdrop of the Gympie hinterland, the trip was packed with action, laughter and powerful moments of personal growth.
Designed to foster teamwork and resilience, the camp offered students a valuable opportunity to step out of their comfort zones, strengthen existing friendships and build new bonds across the year level. With Year 6 just around the corner, students also put their leadership skills into practice, learning what it truly means to encourage, support and lead their peers.
Throughout the three days, students tackled an exciting line-up of challenges:
- Giant Swing & Ringtail Ropes: Testing their bravery high in the air, students supported one another to conquer heights and trust their team.
- Tower of Tremble: A test of trust, strategy and balance as teams worked together to build crate towers.
- Survival Skills & Creek Explore: Connecting with nature, students learned bushcraft essentials and discovered local wildlife along the rock pools.
- Archery & Radio Rogaining: Sharpening their focus, navigation and critical communication skills through target practice and orienteering team challenges.
- Simply Circus: Unlocking new creative talents with juggling, spinning plates and playful performances.
Whether pulling the rip-cord on the Giant Swing or working together to navigate the bush, our Year 5s showed incredible grit, enthusiasm and empathy. They return to school not only with great memories, but with the confidence and unity needed to step up as the college’s future leaders next year.
Thank you to the wonderful instructors at Maranatha and our dedicated teaching staff for making this experience possible!
