Year 5 Camp

Year 5 had an amazing time last week when we went to camp at Maranatha Boulder Creek Campsite near Gympie. We were so excited when we arrived last Wednesday when we found that the camp was in the middle of the bush! We could hear the birds singing, the kookaburras laughing, we got visited by an inquisitive bush turkey (who broke a window!) and we even saw a goanna going up a tree! It was such an interesting place to have a camp.

There were many challenges on camp, we did a ropes course, had to build and climb a “tower of tremble” and even had to take a “leap of faith” when we jumped from a platform up a tree. We learned how to cook damper over a campfire and we got to eat it with honey. We had to trust our leaders and teachers to lead us on a bushwalk… blindfolded! We learned archery, played rocket ball and built a bridge that we had to be able to walk on! We were so busy that we came home a bit exhausted.

Other highlights were the food, it was so delicious! We all enjoyed roast beef, spaghetti, nachos, bacon and eggs, pancakes and even chocolate cake! We also enjoyed the night activity “MInute to Win it”.

Overall, we had a fabulous time and came home tired but happy!
