This last week Year 5 journeyed north to Maranatha Recreation Camp, Boulder Creek to experience some exciting outdoor adventure challenges. Students used teamwork skills to create rope bridges, rafts, orienteering and also support one another as they climbed the Tower of Tremble.
They overcame their fears as they completed the high ropes challenge and hurled themselves at great speed on the giant swing. Students also literally had their first shots at archery and using a slingshot.
There was no lack of delicious food available from morning to night. Students gathered at night times and roasted marshmallows and had a couple of devotions led by our primary pastors to be more like Jesus.
Many of the students had the time of their lives.
Zoe Ford exclaimed, “The experience was really fun and [I] loved the opportunities.”
Elsie Proctor said, “The camp helps you overcome your fears.”
Aaron Newell reported that, “It was really nice to try new activities.”
Year 5 finished camp with hearts full, having had a wonderful time growing as individuals, learning new things and deepening their friendships with one another. They have said that they can’t wait until the Year 6 camp next year.
