Year 1 was fortunate enough to take a trip to Wildlife HQ at the end of week 4.
In English, students are learning how to write information reports and in Science, they have been learning about habitats. We have been using all of this knowledge combined to write about Australian animals.
While we were there, we took a closer look at spider monkeys, sun bears and baboons with some fascinating Keeper Talks where we learnt about their habitat, physical features and so much more. The students posed some very interesting questions and loved watching the animals in their enclosures. Later we explored the zoo in our small groups, finding animals of all different shapes and sizes. A few of our favourites were the koalas, turtles, huge wombats, the very up close and personal encounters with the emus and of course the baboons. We also got to write some facts and draw some adorable Kangaroos while we sat and watched them. We boarded the bus at the end of the day with some very tired students, parents and teachers. A fun day was had by all!
