Year 10 – Looking Towards the Future

I still clearly remember walking into L8 on the first day of school in 2021. There I was met by a sea of sweet little fresh Year 7 faces nervously anticipating the beginning of their Middle School journeys.

Year 7, 2021

Fast forward roughly three years to this moment – we celebrate the completion of the Year 10’s first term as Senior School students here at GCC! This transition from Middle School to Senior School is not just another step in the educational journey; it’s a milestone filled with opportunities, growth, and yes, a few nerves too!

Moving up to senior school isn’t just about thicker textbooks and more complex equations; it’s about gaining independence, discovering passions, and molding futures. Our Year 10 students have begun to embark on a journey where they’ll have the chance to delve deeper into subjects they love, explore new interests, and chart their own course.

But with great opportunities come great responsibilities. Senior school brings with it a heavier workload, increased expectations, and a stronger focus on individual accountability. It’s a time when our students will learn the invaluable lesson of time management, balancing academics with extracurriculars, social activities, and personal growth. It’s a challenging transition, but one that equips our students with the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This verse speaks to the resilience and determination that our students possess as they face new challenges and embrace new opportunities. It’s a reminder that, with faith and perseverance, they can overcome any obstacle that comes their way.

So, to our Year 10 students, I say this: Embrace this transition with open hearts and eager minds. Senior school is your chance to shine, to discover your strengths, and to make a difference in the world around you. Your parents, teachers, and school community are here to support and champion you every step of the way!

As we embark on this journey together, let’s celebrate the achievements of the past and look forward to the bright futures ahead. Here’s to the future Class of 2026—may your senior school years be filled with joy, growth, and endless possibilities!
