What’s happening in the Kitchen Garden?

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome back existing GCC families and introduce our wonderful Kitchen Garden program to our new families.

As part of the P-2 curriculum at GCC, classes participate in fortnightly Kitchen Garden (KG) lessons. Our KG program provides hands on experience for the students to grow and maintain the vegetable/fruit gardens and then harvest and cook with the produce they have grown. We have found that students benefit greatly from this program and become more willing to try new things and make healthy choices through participation and most of all it is FUN!

The program’s success is reliant upon volunteer helpers each week. Volunteers are required to lead a small group of children in the lesson’s activities. These include weeding, planting, watering, harvesting and cooking. It is a great way to participate in your child’s education and they love to see their parents/caregivers at classes. If you are able to attend your child/children’s lesson, please let me know by email or contact Main Admin.

Classes are held on Tuesdays in the Kitchen Garden next to the Prep building.
Prep classes are 30 minutes long and Year 1 and 2 are 45 minutes in duration.

Below is the timetable for classes.
