On Sunday 31 August, nine of our junior students proudly represented GCC at the USC Speech Contest, held at the University of the Sunshine Coast. This annual event brought together students from across the Sunshine Coast, including SCGS and NCC, with 14 competitors in each category.

Our team included four Year 5 students and five Year 6 students, all of whom had been working diligently in preparation for the contest. Each student presented a prepared speech in French and then responded to questions from the judges — a challenging task which they handled with confidence and composure.

We are delighted to share that Serena C (Year 6) and Scarlett A (Year 5) both received a Highly Commended award in the French category. This is an outstanding achievement given the high standard of competition.

Every participant demonstrated dedication, courage, and enthusiasm, and we are so proud of the way they represented our college. Congratulations to all involved!
