Dalton Loveday and Chelsea Brown showed their class at the Glasshouse District Swimming Carnival to become 12 year Age Champions. Chelsea won all but one event and Dalton had very close finishes against a St Michael’s swimmer. Dalton won breaststroke, freestyle and 200m IM and placed second in butterfly and third in backstroke but the two boys finished even on points to share the title of 12 year Boys Age Champion.
The team of Glasshouse Christian College swimmers were enthusiastic competitors across the age groups with several top three placings gained. Twelve-year-olds Chelsea Brown and Grace Pearson dominated their races with the girls having several very close finishes. Both girls train hard and this was evident as Chelsea won every race except 50m freestyle which Grace won! Grace placed second each of her races.
The younger aged students found the competition more difficult. Ten-year-old Charlotte Ramke swam a determined butterfly race to finish in third place. Nine-year-olds Estelle Collins and Kyson Jones gained three third placings. Estelle placed third in butterfly and backstroke and Kyson gained a third placing in the 25m freestyle race.
It was the first time many of our team had competed at the District level so this was a great experience for them. They all helped us gain points throughout the day to finish in third place overall behind St Micheal’s and Mooloolah State School.
Six 12-year-old students were selected to swim at the Sunshine Coast Regional Championships in March. The students selected are Dalton Loveday, Ben Chidgey, Chelsea Brown, Grace Pearson, Millie Ives and Reghan Boxsell.
It was great to have many family members supporting the team at the Glasshouse competition.
