On 26 April, Glasshouse Christian College ran its second annual Shave For A Cure event. It was a huge success for the Student Voice and everyone involved, and collectively, we feel privileged to have been able to host such an important affair. This year, we had three brave students who shaved their heads, two from Year 11, and another from Year 8. Pene Clifford, Casey Woods and Nerissa Clem all gave up their locks in the name of a great cause, and the entire GCC community is brimming with admiration for these amazing and selfless people.
Five of our male staff also gave up their leg hair – Mr Curtis, Mr Kasselman, Mr Osberger, Mr Carolissen and Mr Pienaar – along with our very own Nash Davis, who was nominated to participate by our student cohort!
Together, these brave people raised $1,897.10 for the Leukaemia Foundation, which is an astounding effort! The money that resulted from this hard work will go towards funding family accommodation close to treatment centres, providing crucial information to families, and supporting blood cancer research through a PhD scholarship grant. It has been a privilege, and an honour to be able to be a part of such a life-changing event in the Glasshouse community.
