The final week of Term 2 saw the grand finale of the Year 7 Songs of the South Land” FUSE unit, with the highly anticipated Streamys Awards.

Throughout the term, students looked at the depth and richness of Ancient Indigenous culture, delving into Australia’s special places – from the majestic Uluru to our own beautiful Glasshouse Mountains. Every student then created a spoken word poem (hand-written to outsmart AI, of course) about a special place of their own, and a team chose their best poem to produce a spoken word YouTube clip to match.

The special place spoken word poems ranged from favourite holiday spots to time spent with family, friends – and yes, even school! Clips have been uploaded to the Streamys YouTube channel, and over the holidays, students will be flexing their marketing muscles to gather likes and comments on their work, to find out who is most successful at the “box office”.

The highlight, however, is the Streamys reveal event, where our Year 7 stars (and a few “has-beens”) will strut down the red carpet in glamorous garb to watch their creations on the big screen.
