The Language of Friendship

Thank you to the many parents who attended our family webinar on the Language of Friendship with Tyson from URStrong. It was so encouraging for us all to learn alongside the children about friendships and how we can do this better.

The first point that Tyson made was the importance of friendships for every child and how this can impact their day and their learning. We recognize that navigating friendships can often be a challenging journey for children, filled with twists, turns and occasional bumps along the way. That is why initiatives like the URStrong Friendology program aim to equip you, the staff and the children with the necessary tools and language they need to grow healthy, lasting friendships. Through this program, children not only learn the art of making friends but also learn how to manage friendships grounded in trust, respect and mutual understanding. They also learn how to manage conflict successfully.

During the collaborative session with the children, we had the opportunity to explore various strategies on how to facilitate positive and constructive friendships.

For those who could not attend, we will have a recording to share and because we are a URStrong school you also have the opportunity to sign up to access many of the free parent resources available. (FREE Parent Membership)

Some next steps, we recommend:

As parents, our role in guiding our children through the intricate language of friendship is so important. When our friends come home from school, during meal times or during dedicated “friendship chats”, we have the opportunity to discuss their social experiences, challenges and triumphs and coach them to use this common language of friendship to navigate, resolve and enhance positive relationships.

As we continue on this journey of helping the children grow strong, meaningful friendships, thank you for partnering with us. Together we will continue to prioritize “Green-Zone” friendships, navigate Friendship Fires, deal effectively with Mean-On-Purpose situations and Talk-it-Out when Friendship Fires occur.
