The DOs and DON’TS of GCC’s 2023 Open Day

Next term will be here before you know it and we all know (hopefully) that Open Day is in Term 2. For some of you, it might be your 13th or 14th Open Day and for others, it might be your first one so we have put together a handy list of dos and don’ts for you.

DO mark Saturday 20 May between 10am and 2pm on your calendar now.

DON’T RSVP if you are a current parent or have already enrolled your child for a future year. There is no need. Just turn up and have a good time exploring the campus with your family and friends.

DO RSVP if you are new to GCC or a visitor wanting to learn more. We will have a goody bag ready for you in the Enrolment area.

DON’T eat before you come. We have wonderfully fresh, delicious food from food trucks, our fabulous P and F and other vendors. You can find out more on our Glasshouse Christian College Open Day page on our website.

DO bring your friends and family. It is a good opportunity to show them where your child or children go to school and show off their student work in the classrooms.

DON’T miss out on the opportunity to visit our Agricultural Science Farm. It is only open to GCC visitors and families once a year on Open Day.

DO RSVP if you want to take one of the free tours out to our Agricultural Science Farm. Book here: Agricultural Science Farm Booking Form.

DON’T forget that this is the perfect time for Primary families to explore secondary specialist rooms like Engineering, Woodwork, Textiles, Visual Art and Science Laboratories.

DO take a student tour and let them show you around. You may be surprised at what you will discover.

DON’T forget to take in a few performances in our Performance Hall, Music rooms and in the OLA in N Block. These performances are a wonderful showcase of our students’ talent.

DO pick up a program when you arrive so you don’t miss out on any of the timed events.

DON’T worry if the weather looks less than perfect. Last year we had torrential rain and even though it dampened our spirits a little, everything went ahead as planned (with just a few tweaks).

DO ask questions of the Management Team, teachers and students wearing badges. They are all here to help.

DON’T tell your friends that we are full. While there are small waiting pools in some year levels, family situations change quickly and spaces open up all the time.

DO use GCC’s Open Day as an opportunity to show your child or children that you are interested in their educational journey. Let them show you around and listen attentively. This is a good opportunity to increase your bonds with your children and open the pathways for them to talk to you about school more often in the future.

In summary, Glasshouse Christian College’s Open Day will be a fun family event that allows you to learn more about our College. It is an opportunity for current and new families to see firsthand the exceptional quality of our private school. You can explore our College facilities, interact with our teachers, and gain an understanding of what sets us apart from other schools on the Sunshine Coast. We take pride in the fact that many families consider us to be the top school in the region, as evidenced by our happy students, modern facilities, innovative classrooms, and dedicated staff.

At our College, we strive to offer affordable private education on the Sunshine Coast. We have worked hard to keep our fees low and transparent, ensuring that camps and other regular expenses are included in the one low fee. Our goal is to be one of the most cost-effective private schools in the area.

See you on Saturday 20 May between 10am and 2pm.
