The Annual Physics Cup

In STEM (Science), the Year 7 cohort has been investigating the physical forces that act on us and make our world turn, and the simple machines that help us utilise these forces.

Their understanding would become vital in competing in the Third Annual Physics Cup Competition at AussieWorld in Week 7.

Teams raced against the clock to find examples of physical forces, including various contact and non-contact forces, and simple machines, such as 1st, 2nd and 3rd class levers. The only caveat was that at least half the team had to go on a ride to gain points for any of its physical forces or simple machines identified.

After a long day of riding, driving, sliding, swinging, and recording, one team emerged victorious with the highest-ever Physics Cup score of 46 points.

Congratulations to the Third Annual Physics Cup winners (left to right): Isaac Choi, Liam Wessels, Aaron Newell, and Sean Barrett.
