The ‘Arts Trip’ to Sydney proved to be an unforgettable experience for our group of senior students as they delved into the city’s vibrant arts and culture scene. Over the course of four enriching days, they were treated to a plethora of captivating activities. Among the highlights were witnessing the new production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the iconic Capitol Theatre and being enthralled by a behind-the-scenes tour of the renowned Sydney Opera House. Madame Tussauds provided a fascinating encounter with lifelike wax figures, while the lightscape exhibit in the Royal Botanic Gardens was amazing. For an adrenaline rush, Luna Park’s thrill rides added an element of excitement to the trip. Moreover, the students had the privilege of partaking in diverse workshops scattered throughout Sydney. From an engaging ‘improvisation’ class at Belvoir St theatre to a creative ‘lyric writing’ course at the Sydney Conservatory of Music, they honed their artistic skills under expert guidance. Additionally, the dance students had the exceptional opportunity to visit the ‘Sydney Dance Company’ on its open day, soaking in inspiration from the talented performers. Under the thoughtful guidance of our Arts teacher, Mrs. Wilson, the students even participated in a ‘draw the house’ workshop at the Sydney Opera House, where they sketched and absorbed the essence of the iconic building. This unforgettable journey left an indelible mark on their artistic spirits, inspiring a newfound appreciation for the arts and the city of Sydney.
