The 2019 College Arts Tour took place over the school holidays, with 17 students and the Arts staff traveling to Sydney for five days. The students had a great week being immersed in the Arts and culture of Sydney.
The first day had the students participating in a screen acting workshop at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. On the Saturday the students participated in a Sydney Opera House Tour, where they got to see inside the many theatres and learn about the construction and architecture of the amazing building. This was followed by a tour of the Museum of Contemporary Art and a sightseeing cruise of Sydney Harbour. They finished the night off with a show at the Opera House presented by Bangarra Dance Company.
The students then spent a day in the historical Rocks district. Here they wandered through the markets, watched numerous street performers and visited the Rocks Discovery Museum. The final day of the trip saw the group attend two workshops. The first was the Improv Theatre Company, where the students learnt the art of improvisation and how to further develop their acting technique. After this, the group travelled to Sydney Dance Company and participated in a Theatre Jazz class. After an awesome five days, even a fire evacuation at the hotel couldn’t dampen the students’ spirits or memories of a great trip!
