Earlier in the term, four of our ensembles and choirs competed in the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod. The event was held over several days at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.
Congratulations to Symphonic Winds (Years 8 – 12) who placed third in their category and won a $100 prize. What a great achievement! Symphonic Winds performed Selections From The Greatest Showman, The Sea Of Eternity, and Night of the Dark Horse. The adjudicator gave a special mention to drummer Jesse Cameron, and the backstage crew remarked that GCC were the most polite students of the whole night.

Wind Orchestra (Years 5 – 7) performed a great set. Their pieces were Market In Marrakesh, Majesty, and Tambora. The trumpet section received a special shout-out from the adjudicator – well done to Penny, John, and Cooper!

Mr Mathieson led Cool Voices (Years 5 – 6) in their wonderful performance. The students had a very effective warm-up session backstage and enjoyed the opportunity to perform for other schools. Well done Cool Voices!

Jazz Combo performed one of their favourite pieces, Work Song. It was the last hurrah for guitarist Josie Hardie, who has now finished up to focus on the upcoming Year 12 exams. Thanks, Josie for all your hard work over the past two years. We will miss you!

Well done to all the students who competed in the eisteddfod. Huge thanks to all the parents and families who came to support us, and thanks to the tutors who helped facilitate our involvement in this event.
