Secondary Swimming Carnival: Due to the wet weather this week our Swimming Carnivals will now be held at the Burpengary Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre. The Secondary Carnival will take place on Monday 10 February with the Primary Carnival to follow on Friday 14 February.
Buses will begin departing from the College at 7:15am up until 8:30am. All students will be returned to the College by 2:50 pm. Whilst buses are available, Secondary students are permitted to source their own transport. Upon arrival at the pool, students will be expected to report to their house area for roll call.
Attendance is compulsory as is participation in the Freestyle race and at least one novelty event. If you are unable to swim, you must bring a note.
The overall secondary program has undergone some minor changes due to the restricted time available. The house relays will be moved to the end of the day and novelty races will only go ahead if time permits. The 100m Freestyle is a pre-carnival event starting at 8am.

Olivia McKenzie wins a QLD gold medal
After representing Queensland for Indoor last year, Olivia and her teammates were encouraged to continue through the summer and play as much of the beach form of the game as possible. With the thought being that beach teaches players to move more quickly, put more effort into gaining stability and of course to work harder to jump.
So after a considerable amount of training, Olivia was a part of a team that competed at the Mooloolaba Open Beach tournament in the holidays and they came away with a Gold Medal in the Under 15 Girls Division.
Olivia has now been selected in the Queensland Under 15 Girls Team that will compete down at Coolangatta against the other states at the end of March.
Joshua Collins
During the school holidays, Joshua Collins of 10M qualified for the 2020 Australian Age Swimming Championships to be held in Perth. A smashing 25.47sec 50m freestyle and a 56.08 100m freestyle ensured a place at this National event to be held in April.
How to nominate for district trials
Students have the opportunity to attend district trials for a variety of sports. The majority of these trials take place in Term 1.
There is a new process being rolled out in 2020 when nominating for all Independent District Sports.
Students need to come to the Sports Department to get the generic Independent District Trial Nomination Form. This form will have a code on the form for the particular sport you want to nominate for. All nominations are now completed by parents online.
An email will be sent to parents with all the information on how the new nomination process works.
Dates for the district trials are listed below. Students are encouraged to read the school notices each week to ensure these opportunities are not missed.

This year we are providing the opportunity to GCC students to nominate for an upcoming T20 cricket competition.
