It is with great joy that the Primary Honours Program will be starting back up for 2022. With the classroom fully ready and the resources all set, the students are keen to get started this week!
The Honours Program has been developed for students in Years 3-6. The students who have been invited to participate in the program have been identified as exceptionally able in multiple areas of learning and have achieved a high level of academic achievement. Each student participates in a weekly 2-hour withdrawal extension class with the focus being on developing deeper literacy and numeracy skills.
In Semester One, students will be participating in a literacy-based program focusing on persuasive writing. The students will be presented with the BIG TOPICS facing our world today, such as climate change, poverty and pollution, and they will collect research on these topics. Using their own research, students will write persuasive texts alerting the reader to the main issues and convincing them to take action.
The Honours program is an excellent way for like-minded students to come together to share ideas, broaden their knowledge and delve deeper into their learning. I am very excited to see all of the students this year grow and flourish as they participate in Honours 2022.
