Last week in Assembly Toula Gordillo, a clinical psychologist spoke to our students about Cyber Safety. This was well received by the students and they are now more aware of strategies to handle cyberbullying and other cyber attacks on their safety. Toula Gordillo runs a website called talk to teens www.talktoteens.com.au and facebook page with a similiar name. Parents can visit this page if they want more information.
On the Bullying Support website there is a form students can use to report instances of bullying and submit electronically. A full investigation will occur once we receive a bullying report.
This Week:
QCS Preparation: The year 12 students have commenced regular preparation sessions for the QCS exams held in September. All students who are OP Eligible must sit this exam. Students who are OP ineligible are strongly encouraged to sit the exam as it can greatly improve their tertiary selection rank. On the other hand, a poor result on the QCS test will not be detrimental to their rank. It is therefore a huge benefit for non-OP students. QCS practise will continue each Wednesday morning for about 2 hours. Tuesday evening we held an information session on QCS, OP calculations and Tertiary selection ranks. If you have any questions relating to these important issues then please contact our Dean of Studies, Rob Steffler.
On Friday the Year 12’s will be going to the University Showcase. This is another opportunity for students to talk to representatives from a wide range of tertiary institutions about options in 2015. There will be representation from TAFE and the Defence Forces as well as the respective Universities. Guest presenters will also discuss life beyond Year 12 and what is available to help and support them in the next stage of their journey post-secondary.
