The school year is underway and students have been enjoying the library spaces at breaks where they have a chance to choose a new book to read, join with a few friends to play a board game or receive some help with research for a class task. Our library team enjoy these opportunities to assist students and we also have lots of great recommendations for students of all ages who need help in selecting a new book or new type of story (genre) to explore.
For Secondary students we also have a wide range of eBooks and eAudiobooks available in our Wheelers Platform eBook collection. Students can access our eLibrary anywhere, anytime, on multiple devices. Once downloaded, these eBook and eAudio versions can be enjoyed offline – great for when students are traveling by car or public transport to school.
Homework Club for students in Year 7 – 12 is on Thursdays from 3 – 4pm and is held in the library. Students can also meet with Mrs Morris – Secondary Teacher Librarian for assistance with research and finding quality resources for assignments. Appointments for Research Help can be made by emailing or speaking with Mrs Morris. A range of online databases for locating quality resources are available via the Library weebly – GCCHub. More information about the Library Weebly and these databases will be shared in future newsletters. Mrs Morris is also working with classes across the term and provides research and information skills sessions to small groups and classes on request.
We look forward to helping students and families with their questions and book requests. Do come and see us for some great reading recommendations.
See you in the library.
