The event was organized by the Sunshine Coast Independent Primary Heads Association and was hosted at Immanuel Lutheran College. Eleven Independent Schools on the Sunshine Coast participated.
We were honoured to listen to an inspiring special guest, Darcy Higgins, who was in a car accident just before he was going to join the army. He was told he would never walk or talk again. Although this happened, Darcy concentrated on his goal – to walk and communicate again, proving the doctors wrong. This took great persistence and determination!
In the activities, students were involved in five different rotations where they had the opportunity to learn about conflict resolution, communication, role modeling, teamwork and goal setting. Students learnt how to work with their peers and how to make an impact on their school. They also learnt about how to be resilient young leaders and to lead the way!
This was a wonderful opportunity for young leaders at GCCC to develop leadership skills and develop a positive self-mindset, build good relationships, be active listeners and confident public speakers.
Special thanks to Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Jen for organizing the trip and for running one of the workshops. It was a fantastic day of fun and learning, while at the same time, a time of getting to meet and make new friends.
