Next week from 4-8 March we are celebrating Queensland School Library Week at the College. The theme for 2019 is School Libraries Create Connections – focusing on the vital work and ‘connections’ facilitated by qualified teacher librarians and library staff in fostering a love of reading and learning. We are blessed to have a Primary and Secondary teacher librarian at the College and an amazing library team who strive to offer programs, services and spaces that encourage students to connect, collaborate, challenge, create and celebrate. We value our partnership with College families and the opportunity to work together to support each child’s learning journey. We look forward to building and developing ‘connections’ with staff, students and families in the year ahead.
To celebrate Queensland School Library Week students are invited to participate in the following competitions. All entries are due on Monday 11 March and will be displayed in the library. The top entry from each category will be sent through to the the Queensland School Library Association for the competition.
Primary School Competition:
The primary competition has two categories, Prep – Year 2 and Year 3 – Year 6. Primary students will draw their favourite character from a book on an A4 sheet. Remember to include the name of the book and author on the back of the artwork or front if you choose. Please ensure entries are clearly named and sent to the library by Monday 11 March.
Secondary School Competition:

Secondary students from Year 7 – Year 12 are to take a photo inspired by the theme School Libraries Create Connections and email this to Mrs. Morris ([email protected]) by Monday 11 March.
We look forward to seeing students sharing their creativity as we celebrate the opportunities we have and the connections we make at our Library at GCC.
See you in the library,
