Earlier in the year, Laneeka Andrews (Year 11 at GCC) achieved her Queen Scout Award. This Scout award is recognised throughout Australia and the Commonwealth.
In recognition of this award, Laneeka was invited to attend a prestigious award ceremony with the Governor of Queensland, His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC CVO and the Chief Commissioner of Scouts Queensland Daryl Scott in Samford last weekend.
Laneeka was presented a Royal certificate by His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey in front of her peers and other awardees in recognition of her Queen Scout Award. The Royal certificate is authorised by Her Majesty, the Queen.
To achieve the Queen Scout award it takes 300+ hours in areas of Community Involvement/Volunteer Service, Adventurous Activities, Spiritual/Personal Growth and Leadership Activities. Laneeka was one of only 37 Venturer Scouts in Queensland to achieve this award during 2020/2021 period.
We are very proud of Laneeka and wanted to share this with the entire GCC community. Well done, Laneeka.
