Congratulations to Kirra-Leigh Crouch and Bakani Kombanie who represented Glasshouse Christian College at the U13-15 Queensland State Soccer Championships in Cairns, playing against 20 teams and 320 athletes from throughout Queensland.
The boys played strong and hard, finishing first in their heats heading into the final series and after six games, with only one loss, was placed third overall.
The girls finished their heats coming fourth going into the final series as underdogs. They won both their finals but not without dramas, with Kirra-Leigh taken to Cairns Hospital by ambulance due to a mid-air collision with the keeper but was fortunately given the all clear before returning to the pitch to play and win in the knock-out semi-final.
ately, they finished second overall after playing in the Grand Final against Northern Queensland only to be defeated by 2 goals to 1 after a goal by Kirra-Leigh was disallowed.
