After several weeks of consistent rain, students were eager to get out on the field in their prospective sports. GCC students from Years 4-6 played in various locations across the coast against other schools involved in Primary SCISSA.
Throughout the day, teams played between 5-7 games against other colleges that participated in the SCISSA program. Schools such as Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Good Shepherd College, Nambour Christian College, Pacific Lutheran College, Immanuel Lutheran College and Suncoast Christian College put up some tough competition.
This year marks GCCs first year entering Primary SCISSA, which has allowed every student in Years 4-6 to participate weekly in sport. Within SCISSA there are three divisions that students can play in which creates an inclusive sporting environment.
Through the Primary SCISSA sporting games finals or running positional ‘ladders’ are not privy to students. This once again takes the ‘winning aspect’ out of the game, rather, replaced with participation and enjoying sport.
GCC students always give their best to their team, encouraging one another and playing fairly.
