It’s easy to sit down and tell God about all the things we are stressing about. We pray that God would give us strength today to deal with ‘so and so’ or that he would give us wisdom as we plan ‘such and such’.
Often it’s those things first on our minds, which end up first on our prayer list.
There is nothing wrong with bringing God our requests, fears and desires. But I wonder if sometimes these things get too much attention.
Often we overlook the fact that first and foremost God deserves honor, gratitude, and praise. We should always thank God for who He is and what he has done before handing him our ‘Christmas list’ style prayers.

Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.
For the Lord is a great God, a great King above all gods.
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains.
The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too.
Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,
for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.
If only you would listen to his voice today! – Psalm 95:2-3
