Ordinary lives in Middle School

Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives
Such striving may seem admirable but it is a way of foolishness
Help them instead to see the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life
Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears
Show them how to cry when pets and people die
Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand
And make the ordinary come alive for them
The extraordinary will take care of itself.
by William Martin.

So, to add to these thoughts – here are a range of work, photos and notes of our ordinary lives at Glasshouse Christian College for Week 10 this term:

Year 9 Tree Planting Day

A perfect day for this – with rain and a cool environment. Please enjoy these photos. We don’t just talk about climate change – we make a difference at Glasshouse Christian College. And – if you look carefully, you will see how tall the trees that were planted by last year’s Year 9s and the ones from only two years ago have grown in this short time! Wow – now there’s an analogy, we plant today and harvest for a lifetime!

Certificates

Well done to the students who were awarded certificates in this Tuesday’s assembly. They were for:

  • Reader’s Cup – Year 8s: They came second in their heat!
  • Norah Malan – for a creative writing competition
  • Athletics Carnival Record Breakers.
