On Saturday 24 August the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre held their opening night for the Next Generation art show. Students from Glasshouse Christian College Primary School created skilful and unique artworks to enter the show. The Arts Centre had an overwhelming number of entries and three artworks were chosen from artists at GCC.

Congratulations to Ayla White, Violet Vere and Dylan Brandon Byrne whose incredible artworks are now on display at the gallery. The judges on the night were blown away by the talent of the young artists who created interesting, vibrant and imaginative pieces. On the night Ayla White was awarded the prize for the category 3D artworks ages 7 – 8. The judges liked the way her doll used materials found around the home. They commented on the way the doll’s arms were outstretched which made it appear like she was about to start dancing. 

Well done to all the students who created artwork to enter the show. I encourage you to keep creating, experimenting and developing your skills. Art is a wonderful way to express yourself, your interests and ideas. The world is a brighter and more interesting place when we create so keep going! 

Years 1 to 3 are welcome to join the primary Art Club every Wednesday at first break in the 1W classroom. In Term 4, Art Club will be open to Years 4 – 6. I look forward to seeing you there.
