“Music education is more than just introducing students to beats, notes and songs. Instead, it completely transforms a child’s mind and opens up endless possibilities to their learning potential”.

The music room is buzzing with many musical opportunities offered to students at the College outside of the classroom music time. I’m so excited by the interest that has been shown for choirs, vocal group, bands and ukulele clubs. Since our successful Arts Night, “Shine on the Arts”, students have asked about becoming involved in ensembles that are offered.

This term saw the commencement of the Primary Ukulele Club (Year 4-6) and Secondary School Ukulele Club (both Middle and Senior School). Please see the complete list of music ensembles that are offered and their rehearsal times.

Secondary Ukulele Club                Monday second break9.5.13 082

I have also set up Moodle sites for Little Voices and Vocal Group. Students in Vocal Group can use their sign in details to access lyrics and recordings. Parents of students in Little Voices, I have set up a Moodle site for you with ‘Guest’ settings so you won’t need any log in details. Please follow the link:
Home page -> Students -> Co-Curricular Activities -> Creative Arts -> Little Voices. ** Please select the ‘Guest Login’ button. Alternatively, you can click on this link.

This term there are performances at Embracia and Glasshouse Country Care where students have the opportunity to show their skills to the residents of these facilities. Please also keep an eye out for performance dates in Term 4.

I’m encouraged by the enthusiasm that students show for music and the love and appreciation that is growing throughout the school.
