A little bit of Austria came to GCCC last Friday. Our beautiful Year 3 students were dressed to impress in their formal attire to perform their Smart Strings classical violin concert to their adoring fans (family).
Parents were served coffee and strudel to get them in the mood and even the staff were outfitted in ball gowns, tails and bow ties to befit the occasion.
The sight of 77 violinists on mass was grand and the music, accompanied by their talented tutor Mr Ross Walker on the grand piano, was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Our Year 2 students were also in the audience and they now know what they can expect next year when it’s their turn to pick up the bows.
Any parents who would like their child to continue learning and playing violin next year are encouraged to contact our new strings tutor Mrs Chrissy Davis (contact details are on our website here). Students in Year 4 – 6 also have the opportunity to be part of our College String Ensemble and to perform during the year.
Year 4 students were asked this week to choose an instrument that they wish to learn within our Year 5 Band Program next year. Students had the opportunity to see and hear the instruments when they attended our Year 5 End of Year Band Concert last week and many also came to our ‘Come and Try’ sessions. All of our instruments are now sent away to be professionally serviced and cleaned, and will be ready for distribution to our new Year 5s on Tuesday of Week 2.
Any current Year 5 students wanting to continue with private lessons in 2015, please complete the 2015 Instrumental & Vocal Enrolment Form and return to the College as soon as possible.
The College currently offers the following private music tuition – Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Drums, Piano, Guitar, Vocal.
For further information or enquiries, please contact tutors directly – details can be found on our website here. Please note that woodwind will have a new tutor in 2015 and contact details will be listed as soon as available.
